I just wanted to say a huge thanks to Ange for having me on her DT for the last 18 months. Due to personal reasons I have decided to step down from the DT. I have really loved being on this team and working with Scrapware's amazing arrange of chippie pieces.
I would like to share one final project I made recently using lots of Scrapware chipboard pieces. My youngest was having trouble remembering his colours so I decided to make him a book to help him out. I used glitter, paint, flock, kindy glitz and glimmer mist to cover my chipboard pieces.

technique anyone?

Hi everyone!

This is a technique that I first came across in a class by uber talented Céline Navarro way back in October 2007 and then gorgeous Natalie May came up with this step-by-step using the metal tape on top of our chippy on a layout. Here it is (as written by Nat)

I've had this idea in my head for quite a while and thought it was about time I gave it a go.

This is a variation on a technique that I use regularly with Cuttlebug projects and thought it would look good on a layout.

I raided my hubby’s shed and came across some Aluminum Tape. I actually think it's used for roofing or something like that but it does the job just nice! It's super sticky and VERY unforgiving {and also cuts worse than a paper cut}.

Firstly I placed all my chipboard on a heavy chipboard background, positioned it then glued it down.

I cover the entire LO with the tape wrapping the ends to the back of the chipboard being careful not to pull it too tight as the tape will be pushed into the crevices.

Using a scoring tool or something that has a round tip, I ran it around the edges of the covered chipboard shapes so that they were more enhanced.

Next thing I did was create some patterns using various tools. Firstly I did some scrape with my fingernails, then some zig zags and dots with the scorer and finally using a Cuttlebug embossing folder, I transferred the pattern by using a rolling pin to force the pattern thru to the foil tape.

I decided to see if embossing powder would stick to the tape so I gently rubbed the Distress Ink Embossing pad direct to the shape then sprinkled the black powder over the top and it worked beautifully.

So next comes the messy bit. Using Ranger Alcohol Inks, I completely covered the entire project in Black Ink making sure to get into all the gaps and edges.

Once dry, I used a few different sanding blocks to sand it back. I move in circular movements and back and forth to get the look I am after. Get into the chipboard shapes and if you find you take off too much ink, just put on another coat.

After this step, I gave it a light spray with a heavy Metallic Silver spray by Memories Mists by
StewartSuperior and let it dry then a light coat of Cinder Glimmermist. This gave it a little more texture and came up looking great.

The entire layout had to sit overnight to completely dry and the result this morning just blew me away. I love the way the ink has settled into the nooks of the chipboard and the light catches it at different levels.

Doily frames...

I so love these Doily frames from Scrapware, for me they are my most favourite chippie ever!, they frame a subject in a photo beautifully.
On my layout LOVE I have used one of Scrapwares new small doily frames. I kept it raw for a rustic boyish feel and added some pritt glue to the bottom and simple layed it over my photo!

My eldest loves to play with daddy's old lego, I wanted to celebrate this memory with a layout.
How easy it is to highlight the subjects in your photo by placing a Scrapware frame over the photo. Here I have used a small Natalie frame found here CH 383 .

I inked my frame with some versamark ink and then sprinkled on some Tim Holtz distress embossing powder. I love that it gives a shabby distressed feel to the frame by leaving some parts of the chipboard raw!

I'm very excited to introduce you to our latest Design Team Member....Ebony van der Starre! I have been a long time admirer of Eb's work, but we met in real life at Camp Mojo last month and we instantly hit it off. Welcome to the team Eb! Here's a little more about Ebony...

Hi my name is Ebony van der Starre and live in Warrnambool on the South West coast of Victoria. I am married to a gorgeous man, Steve and we have too mostly adorable children, Will who is nearlly 8 and Maya who is 4 and a half (going on 16!!).

I started scrapping over 9 years ago with the intention to do a baby album when Will was born and like so many I became addicted!!!! I have been blessed to be involved in various design teams since then and have made SO many amazing friends!!!!!

I love using paints, mists and anything art related and love to create many layers on my pages. I love using bright colors and I would probably describe my style as eclectic grunge!!!

A little bit of Correboard ...

As a lover of Art Journalling and little mixed media projects I am often looking for different materials I can use as backgrounds. Recently I decided to have a play with Scrapware's Correboard as my starting page to build on - and I was quite happy with the results!

I started by tearing the Correboard (which comes as a 12" x 12" sheet) to the size I wanted to work with. Don't be too careful when you tear it - part of the fun is letting it tear indiscriminately, showing parts of the grey substrate underneath. For extra texture and depth, I tore sections of the white covering layer off in parts as well - followed by a smooshing (very technical term) of cream acrylic paint in sections, just using my finger to avoid a brushed, neat look.

I have then layered pieces of printed fabric, cheesecloth, lace paper and stamped images - securing it all together by running it through my sewing machine. Yes - you can sew through Correboard, with a denim needle in your machine it is a breeze. I think the machine stitching gives another dimension to the texture, but if you don't have a machine you could hand stitch or even staple the different elements on top for another look again.

I've used Unity Stamps on the second page along with Scraptivate's German Scrap wings and a new Scrapware product .......

Although my name is Rebecca most know me simply as Beck. I am married to a wonderful husband and have two beautiful boys under two years of age which keep me on my toes.

I started out as a card maker learning simple stamping techniques with a girlfriend back in 2004. A few years later I walked into my then local scrapbook store Tomorrow’s Memories in Perth WA Australia, with a card for my parents 40^th wedding anniversary that was only half finished, I was asked if I needed any help. Well that is where my scrapbooking journey begun. One of the owners Vicki quickly offered me some guidance, did some die cutting and distressing, and my card was on the way to being finished. I will never forget that day, as it was then that I found out that there was SO much more to paper crafting than stamping! These days I am all about dimension, so yes I don’t get as many layouts into an album, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! The more dimension the better I say.

My scrapbooking love includes layouts to off the page projects, and cards as well. I wouldn’t say that I have ‘one’ specific style as I do enjoy trying different styles and tailoring the layout to suit the subject or photo whilst adding different texture or techniques into my work. I love to teach and share my ideas to hopefully inspire others along their paper crafting journey.

I am 26 years old, I live in Melbourne and I have been scrapbooking for just a little under 3 years now. I don't have children, and I suppose that makes me a little bit different to a lot of people who scrapbook, but I started when I wanted to find something to do with all of the photos I had from mine and my partners 21st birthdays. Needless to say, the rest is history (and I never quite finished either of our 21st albums!). I am on the creative team for Scrapbooking Memories magazine and have been lucky enough to travel a little bit with my scrapping and meet some wonderful ladies.

My favourite thing about scrapbooking is the beautiful and supportive community of women who inspire me every day and who I am always grateful to call my friends!

I can never quite pinpoint my style, so when I'm asked to, I usually define it as evolving - I love to play with texture and am always incorporating paint and fabric into my projects somehow - the messier the better!

I am so excited to be able to create for Scrapware and I can't wait to get messy with some of the amazing products!

I am 29 years old, and living in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains with my partner Mark, and our 3 gorgeous kids, Jaiden 10, Tanika 7 and Zayne 2. I work part time as a florist, but am otherwise a stay at home Mum, which I love!

I have been scrapping for approximately 8 years now, on and off, and I am a current Scrapbooking Memories Master. I have been on the Creative teams for a few challenge blogs, including the STUCK?! sketch site which I am still on currently. My latest style would definitely have to be simple, with plenty of paint, usually using multiple smaller photos. Polka dots, flowers and twine are also some favourites.

I am looking forward to creating as a part of the Scrapware team!

I’m a Mum of a 10 year old boy and 2 year old girl working in child care a few days a week. I think I am married to the best husband when it comes to my scrapping hobby as he understands my need to create and be creative including it being my time out from everything.

I began scrapping in 2007 when I thought that I could cut costs and do my own wedding invitations. Then I had a tonne of wedding photos and Honeymoon photos that I just had to do something with. Mind you, my wedding album still isn’t finished and I’ve only just finished my Honeymoon album.

My work will include a lot of white, lace, paint, ink, distressing and pearls. I lean towards texture and dimension in my pages and Off The Page projects and have been lucky to have some of my OTP’s published.

I am really honoured to be part of the Scrapware DT and to have the opportunity to work alongside a group of designers that I admire.

The girls have all been madly working on projects and I will show them off during the week!

Sky Tower Triumph

Well I did it...and here is proof! It was the perfect end to a perfect SENZ show and a long journey for me. Most of you that know me will realise I am quite a bit smaller than I was 6 months ago and this was the perfect way to say goodbye to the old unhealthy me and unleash the new one...

I was trying to keep a brave face for Skye on the other side of the glass who was a wee bit petrified and I was saying "it's all good out here" haha.

I took the leap of faith, no hesitation...3...2...1....jump! What an amazing experience. It only takes 11 seconds to drop you some 630 feet...and what should I find at the bottom, but Starbucks...oh how I have missed you!

I will be introducing the new Design Team very soon & we have lots of new products to show you too!

SENZ

We have just retuned from a fabulous trip to New Zealand to attend the SENZ show in Auckland. The show was held in the Telsra Clear Pacific Events Centre which is in the shape of an upturned Waka and for those of you that don't know what a Waka is, it's a Maori canoe!

We were lucky enough to have some Kiwi scrappers whip up some display pieces for us and we also sponsored their classes. Thank you Nic Howard, Rachel Tucker, Lianne Gray and Tania Sansom! We also sponsored Jilly GG's classes which I heard where a huge success, it was great to finally meet some of these people I have cyber friendships with!

I took Skye Johnson with me and we had the best time hanging out with this bunch of ladies who took the best care of us...

Simply Overlays!

Hello! Welcome to overlay Friday!!
Stuck for mojo??
Scrapware overlays are an EXCELLENT way to get your mojo flowing! They create an awesome base on which to start your creating, weather you want to scrap a layout or off the page Overlays are the perfect foundation :)

I decided to celebrate the first 12 months of my son, Walter's life by creating this layout that featured a photo of him from day 1 right through to 1 year old.
I have started off with the CH225 Twinchie Overlay B as the base for the layout, simply covering the fame and the inserts with patterned paper and giving a slight inking and a coat of gloss Mod Podge.
I then stuck down all my photos with foam tape and labeled each with some mini alphas. I then prepared the AZ07 Antique Uppercase and AZ08 Antique Lowercase Alphas by painting with crackle paint and inking. The CH133 Flourish Lisa Small I simple inked and then painted with the crackle paint.

Add some plain bakers twine, some butchers roast gauze and buttons and bits and voila!
Why not have some fun with some of the stunning to simple overlays that are in the Scrapware range??

Overlays!

This week we will be show casing the Scrapware overlays. I had the pleasure of playing with the Twinchie Overlay D (CH227).

So I covered the overlay with some Kaisercraft printed paper, inked the edges and sealed it with Mod Podge. I used a 12 x 12 canvas and ripped the canvas of the frame, sealed it with gesso and painted it with gold paint. I then adhered my overlay with foam dots to the frame. It was then decorated with some Webster's Pages printed paper, some Prima Flowers and more Scrapware chipboard, which I covered in some Tim Holtz crackle paint. To finish it of I used a whole sheet of Webster's Pages and curved it around the back, fastening it with sticky tape, so it gives the illusion of looking straight into it.

more fun with frames..

Continuing on with 'frame' theme this week, I'd like to show you a different way of using this gorgeous CH380 Nadine Frame (medium)..

I've cut the frame in half in diagonal corners for a different effect..and the bonus is I'll have another half frame to use again soon :) To get the 'timber' look, I first inked in Tim Holtz Distress Ink (vintage photo) and then gave a coat of Modge Podge 'Matt-Mat' waterbased sealer.

For the title I've used AZ03 Impact Lowercase alpha and painted in white gesso, applied some green ink and done a rough outline in a white gel pen

The cute little flowers are MI09 Mini Flowers. I've coloured them with Tim Holtz Distress ink (mustard seed), then applied Ranger 'Diamond' Stickles for some sparkle..

Frames at Scrapware

Hi all Bridgette here, How are you all? I have been a bit sick these last couple of days ick! A head cold sucks big time when you have to run the household and still be organised, thankfully i have a great hubby who helps out as much as he can. .Any way since i have had a bit of time on my hands I have made these two pages using Scrapware frames.
My First page I have tried to be a minimal scrapper (sort of kinda) LOL The photo is so gorgeous and large that I wanted the focus all on the photo, which I hope I have achieved. This photo is of my gorgeous niece who is four weeks old today,

I have used a large Natalie frame which I have cut in half to frame my photo. I sprayed my frame with Maya road glimmer mist. Next I have used Scrapware Filigree angel wings and painted them with Stampin up shimmer paint. I have also used Corre board which i punched and used as a border and placed them slightly under my paper giving my LO some nice texture . Lastly i have placed my large corre impact letter's under my photo .and we are done .

We are showing off our frames this week on the Scrapware blog. I think this doily frame 3 in medium is my all time Scrapware chippie piece.
I love that you can layer it over or under pattern papers or frame people in a photo.
Here I have simply inked my chipboard with brown chalk ink and layered it over some pattern paper and then layered my photo and embellies over the top.

On this one I have left the chipboard raw for a grungy feel, I framed the subjects in my photo with the doily frame and added some mini angel wings

I hope I have inspired you to use your doily frames on a layout!

ABOUT ME with a few decadent flourishes....

“About me” was this months topic and surprisingly in the 7 or 8 years I have been scrapbooking this is only the second time I have made a layout “About me”! Just like most mums it doesn’t occur to us that our thoughts need to be as preserved just as much as our children’s latest birthday party.

I enjoyed creating this page so much I’ve started another about my favourite things. It’s interesting to see a collection of photos that sum me up. If you haven’t tried making the page all about you give it some thought …it really was quite fun. :)

My focus SCRAPWARE product was obviously the Damask flourishes. I love the girly feather boa/diamonds are a girls best friend feel this gives my layout. Being a mother with three boys I dont often do girly layouts so this was a nice change of pace. Two of the Damask flourishes came from the Large SCRAPWARE Pack and one from the small Pack. I also used an inchie square and 3 inchie square, Impact alphabet and

Okayeee so it is a busy page LOL ....

(I hope you can read this it explains alot about why the busy page is so!)

I also recently made an Artist's Trading card

on the SCRAPWARE ATC base, to accompany my first paper clay doll.

I created this doll for an international doll swap and the two things

are on their way to New Jersey USA!

Love the bases for creating "heavy duty" ATC's.

This was created in layers chipboard painted background first, embossed art doll stamp on the top and sandwiched in between.... glow in the dark embossing enamel on transparency!!! she's quite eerie in the dark especially after you charge her up right under the fluorescent desk lamp! LOL

Then over the top of the layers, another layer, this one of Dimentional Magic

with sparkly Mica powders sprinkled and dispersed into the wet gloss layer.

Also a work in progress...

I am having a ball with this little beauty...

Something about ME...

This week we are sharing projects based on US!!! Often we forget to scrap layouts about ourselves, our likes, our loves, our quirks etc, We need to remember that we are important family members too and that our stories are intricate parts of our families lives.

Today I am sharing my first ever layout as a mother of FIVE children! As I scrapped this page last night I got a bit excited to see my five babies staring back at me from the page - With our new little love - our gorgeous son Quinton just a few week old, we haven't quite got that photo yet of all five together, but I am sure there will be thousands of pics of them soon enough ; )

For this page I wanted to emphasis the number of kids - so I repeated to title three times, firstly painting my chipboard with white gesso and once dry, spritzing the letters with glimmermist. And finally outlining each letter with a black journaling pen.

I repeated the same steps with the rest of the page elements to unify the embellishments together.Scrapware products used:

Butterfly Gardens ....

I love working with canvas so I am thrilled to be able to share some eye candy with you this week.

My first piece is done on a 5" x7" flat panel canvas with I adhered calico and book paper too. The centrepiece of the canvas is the new Victoria Mannequins which in my opinion are the nicest mannequin shapes EVER! The mannequin is painted with a cream paint and covered with a gauze and a bit of gesso, followed by a corset cut out of burlap. I have couple the mannequin with the new Ariel Wings ... which I have simply painted cream and sanded for a distressed and aged look.

I then added fabric, beading, book paper and the top and bottom of a medium Olivia Frame to the top and bottom of the canvas to finish it off. The whole canvas is then adhered onto an old frame I had, with a layer of burlap added first.

My next project is a little bit of a twist on another project I did a while ago using the Toadstool House. This time I have used a 10" x 12" deep canvas in reverse - working on the inside of the back of the canvas resulting in a shadow box effect.

To colour the Toadstool House for this project I used my Caran D'Ache Watersoluble Crayons after first painting the chipboard with gesso. The new Bracket Placards are coloured in the same way.

The Foliage (large) and the Iron Fences and Iron Gates are simply painted with Jo Sonja Acrylic Paints. I adhered the very bottom of the gate to the frame of the canvas using Helmar 450 adhesive, which was strong enough to hold it all in place.

I've then added a large 3D Butterfly, some painted twigs and paper butterflies and a few beads and lace, and voila ....

Yep, Scrapware is that versatile!! You can scrap it onto a layout, you can use it on cards, you can use it on off the page items and you can create awesome CANVAS scenes!!
I have been inspired by the absolutely gorgeous new toadstool house a too create a mini canvas for my friends daughter Imogen for her birthday!

Being 2yrs old, Imogen is an extremely girly little girl and so I wanted to create a magical and whimsical scene, to tickle her fancy.

I think that I have covered quite a few different chipboard dressing techniques.
With the Antique Mini Frame I popped out the middle and covered with a leftover piece of patterned paper then, glitterized the outside with German glitter glass.
I used white acrylic paint then inked over with distressing ink to give a nice pastel look :) then I used kindy glitz to add that little bit of bling!
With the foliage I simple inked and then drew lines of dimensional magic over the top to create "veins" down the middle.

Now how can anyone refuse this simply gorgeous toadstool house?? I knew I couldn't!
I "rounded" the whole house so that it would sit 3d from the canvas and then I have painted and inked and used dimensional magic again over the spots on the roof.
I finally attached all the chippies to the canvas using a hot glue gun, and finished the canvas with some light pink tulle, and paper flowers.

The focus for this week is canvases. Now, I very rarely do off the page projects and have never done a canvas before, but I had so much fun with this one I think I need to change that :-)

I have used the medium doily frame and the mini butterflies...

For the frame I have simply pained it black and with the butterflies I inked them in yellow and then applied some dimensional magic...

If you are like me and have never done a canvas before, have a go - they are a lot of fun :-)

Scrapware = perfect for cardmaking!

Especially the card kits, all you need to make your perfect card. Hi Hetty here with you today sharing a few cards using ofcourse some gorgeous Scrapware chippie!
First up a baby boy card:

Products used: Baby card kit CH473. Here I sprayed the chippie with some tattered leather glimmer mist, ran it through my big shot using the swiss dot embossing folder. Finished it off with some liquid pearls on the embossed parts.

Next a baby girl card:

Again used the Babycard kit CH473, the pram is so cute! I covered the pram with modelling paste, used a music script stamp to imprint the paste and sprayed it with flower power and coffee shop glimmer mist and let it dry overnight. Finished it off with some lace and pearls.

The next two cards I used the same technique with the modelling paste but used coffee shop and antique brass glimmer mist for the butterfly with a script stamp and tattered leather and cranberry for the watering can with a chicken wire stamp.

Product used: 3D flourish butterfly large CH421, I just the used the base butterfly!

Product used: Watering cans CH484, Iron Fence 2 small CH452 The fences are coated in Tim Holtz weathered wood distressing powder.

The last card I used the dress from the girls card kit CH472 and dressed it up with paper, lace and flowers.

So there you have it! I hope I have inspired you to get out your Scrapware chippie and start creating some cards :)

Handmade cards

Are so very heart warming.. Don't you think??
What is great about making your own cards is that you can keep all of your paper scraps that you have left over from a page and whip up a card in no time at all! Cough, cough! unless your name is Bridgette Hatton! Me, well yeah, I wish I could whip up a card in a short time. It just does not happen. Slow and steady wins the race when it comes to card making and scrapping for this little duck :)
Either way though, a hand made card really makes the receiver feel so special, so why not give it a go today ..

My first card I made wasfor my best friend who lives on the Central Coast. She and I go way back and when i moved away from her I felt so sad and lonely and missed her company like crazy. It's now 3 years since I moved away and we still chat but life gets in the way and we both get busy. Unfortunately we don't chat as often and I miss that so much :( so i thought this card would put a smile on her face when she receives it.
All I have done with my chipboard doiley is put it through the Big Shot machine, painted the inner circle white and the outer circle black, and ruffled some material to give my card some texture. I made a denim flower, popped some thickers on, along with some October afternoon and Scrapware corre letters and there we have it! One card for a missed friend :) Psssst I will not tell you how long it took to make........ that would be tellin :)

This next card is for the latest addition to our ever growing family "Arielle Grace". Yep, I'm an aunty again - such a lovely feeling. I now have 12 nieces and nephews between my family and my husbands.. OMG that is BIG and how OLD do i feel right about now eekkk!!!

I have used Scrapware's 'Precious' word, dusted it with perfect pearls in a dusty gold and placed it in the bottom left corner. I then cut in half a lovely filigree frame which i decided to keep natural, placed a few flutterby's, a little ribbon and a few pearls and bob's your uncle! For our international readers "Bob's your uncle" is a term us Aussies use for saying "and you are done"!! Yep us Aussies have some weird terminology eh!! (insert's giggle here)

This week it is cards week here on the Scrapware blog. I hope we can bring you lots of fun inspiration for creating cards using some yummy chipboard pieces.
My first card I would like to share EYE HEART YOU uses an alien chipboard. I kept the chipboard raw and simply inked the edge with a foam dauber and some brown chalk ink. I added a google eye for a bit of fun and a bit of sparkle at the top. I love how the alien is hanging off the edge of the page, this adds to the fun feel!

My second card SO TWEET uses a large bird standing(Ch322) here again in keeping with my raw theme I simply inked the edges of the bird with brown chalk ink, added a pearl for the eye and then layered it over a doily.

I hope I have inspired you to get out your chipboard and create a card this week. I would love to see it linked up into our gallery here

first signs {of autumn}..

We always know Autumn's on the way at our place when these stunning red toadstools (aka fly agaric) start popping up in our garden.. Every year we seem to have even more! I've tried to create a woodland feel to this layout..and therefore left the chipboard natural with just a few splatters of gold glimmer mist and a little 'pinecone' versacolor ink around the edges..

I've used AZ03 impact lowercase alphabet and CH465 foliage small

..and do you ever run out of a letter when scrapping? for a different effect, you can cut around where that letter was removed from the chipboard and make a bit of a feature out of it..

yes its well and truly here ...

I thought Id start by giving you a dose of inspiration with a few of my favourite quotes/ verses about the Autumn season. These are out of my ever expanding quotes files and really handy on layouts or Artist trading cards. Autumn is the theme this month and I love the colours the reds oranges, yellows and browns all those rich lovely earthy colours are so wonderful to create with.

For this project,

I chose to use the large SCRAPWARE Doily ...

I was lucky enough to have a bunch of Autumn photos of my boys on a camping trip. This was one of those forever moments. I think I may have muttered the usual "settle down someone s going to get hurt" towards the end when someone did ...but I chose to remember this moment for the boys going crazy throwing leaves and laughing.

They were in heaven under a giant tree that had "snowed", down its beautiful yellow leaves all weekend we camped under it. Every time there was a gust of wind it was an amazing sight to behold as hundred of leaves fluttered and glided through the air. They seemed to dance as twisting and turning through beams of sunshine. When they finally made their way to the ground, they looked like they had created a patchwork blanket just perfect for a lay down. Or so my eldest Daniel thought laying down closing his eyes not seeing his brothers whispering to bury him under a pile of leaves!!! Id never known what to do with.these photos. No one photo stood out but all of them told them together told a wild story. Then inspiration struck ..."Autumn is a mosaic"!

That's it !!! I would create a mosaic, of sorts! LOL I had just gotten some beautiful Bo Bunny " a gift of love" double sided papers from the SCRAPTIVATE store. These papers were patterned on one side plain on the other and they were all perfect Autumn colours.
So I set about creating a template to divide up the inner circle of the doily,
which I then traced onto the push out centre circle of the SCRAPWARE Doily .

I made the sections or what looks like a"spoke" in line with where each leaf shape occurred, around the outside circle. Then carefully cut the pieces out where the photos would be according to my homemade template.

I returned the center circle to the outside frame and glued some brown card stock down onto the back to hold it together while I painted it .

I used Tim Holtz Crackle paint - "Spiced marmalade", to get that cracked paint/aged effect. Then rubbed some chalk ink pads over the dried cracked paint to match the papers. Then watered down some Tim Holtz - "walnut Stain" and used it as a wash.

In the photo bellow I am demonstrating how I use the stain straight out off the sponge tip on the bottle with a wet brush. Here Ive brushed it on as a wash over the painted chipboard to tone down a bright orange paint. As you can see, I use the back of my hand to take off the excess stain or water.
My husband says normal people would use a piece of scrap paper!
So I say ...whatever works or is handy at the time! LOL

The Distress stain soaked nicely into the cracks highlighting some areas and toning down some of the brighter colours giving them that antiqued look.

When the frame had dried fully I positioned each photograph and trimmed it down to fit each space. I found it easiest to stick the photos individually onto the back of the frame. I also cut some leaves out of a piece of the patterned Bo Bunny papers and stuck them onto the back of the chipboard doily's leaf shapes, as seen below...

I also inked up the SCRAPWARE "Impact" alphabet letters spelling Autumn to create the title.
Threw on some distress stained skeleton leaves and added some strip journaling to finish.

This was meant for a couple of weeks ago, but blogger had a hiccup and didn't post it!

The theme the week was "things to be thankful for" and my topic of the recent bush fires in my area may seem somewhat incongruous at first but let me explain... The event was obviously terrible but also inspiring in that despite the loss of property there was no loss of life. It also brought out the very best in our community, everyone banded together to help each other and this proved to me again how lucky i am to live where i do.

I have made a mini album using photos of some of the houses destroyed. I've called it perspective for two reasons, firstly to capture the scale of the fires and put the extent of it into context. The second meaning is the way the fires made us focus on what is really important in life.

Art Journalling

One of the things I love doing is art journalling and so since this week's theme here at Scrapware was on the subject of journalling, I thought I would share a couple of my pages.

Since Scrapware has such a vast array of chipboard alpha fonts and words available, it is PERFECT for using on my art journal pages. The prompt for the page below was "My Favourite Things" and I have used a combination of Scrapware words and alphas to create the words of each favourite thing.

The word "Art" (WD108) has been first painted with a dark brown paint. Once dry I have covered the word with embossing ink (direct from the ink pad). I then covered the word with UTEE and heated using a heat gun until the embossing powder melted. As soon as this was done, I followed with another layer of UTEE. This second layer of powder will stick to the first layer if it is still hot. I repeat this process two or three times. Once the final layer of UTEE is melted I gently press a rubber stamp on to the chipboard. When the stamp is removed it leaves an impression in the embossing. This embossed pattern can be highlighted further with metallic waxes such as Rub n Buff as I have done here. This is an awesome way to add really cool dimension and interest to an otherwise plain chipboard word!

The word "Family" (WT36)has also been covered in the UTEE but instead of stamping in to the last layer I have just left it alone, allowing it to dry to the high gloss finish. As the UTEE is clear the colour of the chipboard will show through - so first paint or ink your chipboard piece in your desired colour. (Actually UTEE comes in a bunch of colours but I just used the clear variety for this page).

The other two words "Nature" and "Friends" are created using the following chipboard alphas:

Antique Lowercase Alphas (AZ08)
Elegant Lowercase Alphas (AZ11)

Mini Antique Lowercase Alphas (AZ10)

This alphas have just been painted with a cream paint and sanded to give them a shabby finish.

This week I thought I would extend my art journalling "off the page" .... and so I created this piece using the new Scrapware Two Way Shadow Box Cube (new product available soon!). Two sides of the cube are flat, and two sides have little shadow boxes ... how cool!

The cube goes together quite simply using tape, in the same method as the memory boxes do. Once I put mine all together I covered each side with torn pieces of patterned paper using mod podge to glue it all down. I have then lightly painted with gesso, to give it a shabby finish, followed by a little colour using my Caran D'ache watersoluble crayons. I also painted a face on a Scrapware Twinchie (CH400) which forms the insert for one of the shadow box sides.

My words are formed using the same alphas listed above, simply painted with Gesso.

To form the roof I have first adhered the new Damask shape to each roof piece, cutting off any parts that hang over the sides. I then painted the whole lot with gesso. Once that was dry I have used my watersoluble crayons to add some colour and glued to the top of the cube using Helmar 450 glue. I then added the Tim Holtz ribbon trim around the edge which covered the seam nicely.

My cube sits on four little antique wooden spools which I have also painted with gesso ... giving it little "feet".

The Shadow Box Cube is certainly a must have product and one of my favourites from the brand new release which will be available in a store near you VERY SOON. And if they don't have it ... ask them to get it in for you or email us at Scrapware to see who does!

Journalling

This weeks theme on the Scrapware blog is journalling!
Now this was a slight challenge for me as I, up until this point in time, have not been a journaller! My scrapbooking has been more about the craft side of things then actually preserving the stories.
So I have completed a layout using a small, but absolutely gorgeous, journalling spot.

"Cut the grass"

These Scrapware alphas (AZ08 Antique Low ercase Alphas) have to be the most versatile chippy letters ever!!
They are perfect for every thing from vintage to shabby and right back to funky and modern scraping!
I love them to bits and use them quite a lot as they are my total favourite :) This time I have simply painted them with white acrylic paint and them sprayed them with some Maya Rd mist. I then outlined them with a black fine point pen to define and funk them up!!

The rest of the Scrapware chippies I have used to complete this layout are:

This layout has a bit of a funny story behind it, and the(JB38 Roundabout) flower was the perfect size for me to record just enough details :) I have sprayed the "petals" and leaves with glimmer mist and them coated with Mod Podge. The jouranalling center I painted with white acrylic and journalled straight onto.

The biggest thing I am grateful for in my life is of course my family. My hubby and 3 gorgeous kids are my everything, I would be nothing without them. So here is a layout dedicated to them.

I am so in love with the doily frames Ange designed. Here I used Doily Frame 3 Medium (CH462) which I painted white and finished off with chalkboard glimmer mist and rhinestones. I also used one of the cute little houses which I just left as is.

Lots to be thankful for

Hi all
Bridge here, This week at Scrapware our theme is "Things to be thankful for".
I have lots of things to be thankful for but for today I am narrowing down my list and going straight towards the three people who mean the most to me and am thankful for each and every day, Yep Even when they are annoying me, Which i gotta say is OFTEN LOL !!
These three people make me who I am today, I am blessed to have them in my life, My hubby especially is the most important person in my life, my Rock, my best friend. Without him I would be a sad and lonely lady Which means i would not have my beautiful, cheeky, pretty little girls by my side, So yep I have heaps of things to be thankful for.

I have been waiting for the right kind of page to use my Overlay,today was that day :)
I have painted it Napthol red by jo sonya, and placed over black cardboard so it stands out , I have used my pinecone ink to give the edges a little definition.

Next I have used a word trio sheet painted the word cherish in yellow and then used a bit of ink around the edge to distress the word, This has been placed over a square on the top right , the family word i kept natural and nestled it with my circles that have been popped up off the cardboard using dimensional tape, unfortunately you can't really see the height of my embellishments in these photos.
Don't you just love the little house scene in the far left corner , I have covered the house and roof with co- ordinated paper and cut out the small holes for windows using my craft knife, the cloud was simply painted white and then doodled around the edge,the grass has been painted a light green.
The keys i have placed together using twine.

One has been inked using my trusty Pinecone ink ( what would i do without it) the other I have kept natural to tie in with the other natural colours on my page.
My Corre impact letters have also been painted using jo sonya yellow green, I have then inked around the edge.
I have also used a Scalloped border that I cut and painted using jo Sonya aqua paint. I have placed my scallops on the top and bottom of my title to frame it.

My Journalling for each is tucked under their photo,I have kept this hidden because its a bit personal to share. It simply states why i am so thankful for them and how i feel about each member of my family :)

kindy mothers day stall...

Mothers day is just around the corner and I am excited to be receiving my first gift bought from my son from kindy...it will be interesting to see what he buys for me from the little store at school. Each family had to send in a little gift to be placed in the store and this is what I sent in.

I bought a little organza gift bag and filled it with a facewasher, bar of soap, some chocolates and tied a sponge to the top of the bag. To decorate it I sprayed a fairy 1 flourish wings here with some black cherry glimmermist, once dry I gathered a strip of pink organza stapled it together then glued it to the fairy to form the skirt, I then tied some ribbon around to finish it off.

For my mothers day card, I have used a flower from the flower set 1 here and covered it with white embossing powder I then added a brown pearl to the centre. I added a scalloped frame and inked the edge in brown chalk ink and then attached it to my card with 3d tape for a raised look.

shadow box gift..

Hi there, it's my turn to share a Mother's Day gift this time (luckily my Mum doesn't have internet!) I've used this KT61 mini shadow box and it's the perfect size to make a little piece of art without a huge amount of work involved.

To start with, I coated the whole shadow box with gesso and lined the back piece (inside) with some old book paper. I then 'white washed' the paper with some watered down gesso and a bit of white crackle paint here and there. I painted the insides of the frame with walnut ink and the outside of the box with Tim Holtz Distress Ink 'brushed corduroy'. Once dry I gave it a coat with Modge Podge 'matte-mat' waterbased sealer.

Next I put some hand-dyed muslin and lace around the photo and stuck it inside the frame with the sentiment. I've used a photobooth photo and word strips from Darkroom Door

I've used CH268 small vine to decorate the outside of the frame (cut into 2 sections) inking it in turquoise, applying some crackle paint, then tracing around the leaves with a white gel pen. A couple of different sized CH68 blossom flowers were painted white and used a script stamp in turquoise adding a brad/pearl and lace flower.

I hope you feel inspired to create a unique handmade gift for you Mum, using some gorgeous scrapware chipboard. You can personalise it even more with a family photo. Thanks for visiting..watch this space for another gift idea soon!

PINK ALERT!

Okayeee technically I think I am meant to represent the "blue" side of affairs here on the DT, given I have three boys! LOL Every now and then we need to cut loose and play outside the comfort zone though don't we? I surely did dive into and beyond the comfort zone here and ...
well ...

I may have drowned in the pink factor, metaphorically speaking of course! LOL

I used the new HOUSE SHADOW BOX KIT and the SCRAPWARE products bellow...

The idea I had in mind was to give this finished shadow box to my cute little niece

to hang on her bedroom door!

I began with the small Crown flourish chipboard, I trimmed a little off each side to make it a fraction smaller. I painted it and a set of Flourish Butterfly wings then used ANGELINA FUSIBLE FILM over the top. Its a cellophane looking film that shrinks to the mould around the chipboard details when heat is applied to it with a heat gun. I cut the butterfly apart to create the fairy wings.

I joined two Curly Q's to either end of a mini frame to create the title at the top of the shadow box. The little text box at the bottom I created with the punch out left overs off some square Scrapware chipboard.

Other features of note: The fabric quilted background inside the shadow box and the white paper flowers dip dyed with Tattered Angels cherry blossom Glimmer mist.

I also have to mention a product I recommend highly for its amazing chipboard coverage, LUMIERE ACRYLIC METALLIC paint by JACQUARD. I used the pearl white here on the house front back and walls. The reason I recommend this paint, apart from the lovely lustre and creaminess, is the no fuss one coat coverage. Just one coat of paint that dries really quickly and with just a dab of my brush into the Tattered Angels Glimmer mist and a little pink acrylic I tinted it on the go whist painting to accent the roof.

Finally, abit back the front to mention the roof top last but are you surprised! LOL The roof finish effect was made with paper clay (one of my FAVOURITE things to play with ). Its an almost weightless playdoh like product that air dries. I rolled a sausage shape then applied a layer of glue to the Scrapware roof pieces, then rolled the paper clay out with a rolling pin till it covered the chipboard.

Using an acrylic stamp I stamped the "roof shingles" texture into it.

Then after trimming it to size I painted it while it was wet and left it to air dry.

I hope you all enjoy my sharing this creation with you and Id like to say as happy as I am to have used this gorgeous shadow box ... I am...probably ....all PINKED OUT!!!! LOL

Mother's day gifts

One holiday finishes, and preparations begin for another! This week, the Scrapware team brings you ideas for Mother's Day gifts (look away Mum!). They say that 90% of a present is its packaging, so why not create a one of a kind gift box for that special mum in your life. For this project, I have used Scrapware's 4x4" box kit...the perfect size for containing some jewellery, chocolates or a gift card from your mum's favourite store.

To start, I covered the outside edges of the box with a striped patterned paper. Covering each side individually will help you later when it comes time to assembling the box. If you cover it as a whole sheet, it will be difficult to bend together. Using a stripe can be tricky...make sure all your stripes are facing the same way once folded. The top of the box was covered the same way. To fix the sides together, I cut a strip the same width as the sides and stuck it around the inside edge, bring the sides together. I then inked the edges to add more definition and interest.

Rosette ribbon was adhered around the outside edge of the lid to add a little softness. Next up, the butterfly. The butterfly was coloured in marker, then finished with glitter glue. Once dry, the wings were attached to the butterfly and bent upwards. The lettering was coloured in marker as well, then glazed.

A big organza bow was tied around the base to soften up the edge. Using organza allows the patterned paper underneath to shine through.

Something for the small ones...

I was excited to be scheduled on for a shadow box as I have never done one before! And when I got my tiny little shadow box, the ideas began ticking away in my head - I happen to have a five year old that right now is starting get some wobbly teeth and before long we are going to be having a visit from the tooth fairy! So below is the result of thinking a tooth fairy box to hang on the wall - just high enough up that small fingers can't reach, but the perfect height for a fairy to fly in and collect teeth from!

I began with the Mini Bracket Shadow Box (KT62), Fairy 1 Flourish Wings (CH445) and Impact Alphas lower case (AZ03).

I created the box part and adhered it together with Helmar 450 glue and set it aside to dry for a couple of minutes, next I spread all my pieces out on a paint mat and painted them all with a white gesso primer (thick acrylic paint) and let them dry.

I took the bracket frame of the box and lay a stencil sheet over the top before applying some more gesso to the top with a palette knife, lifting off the stencil carefully and setting aside the frame to dry - hitting it with bouts of the heat gun to dry it a little faster.

I outlined my fairy with a black pen and coloured it with watercolour sticks then brushed over the top with water to blend the colours together. Once dry, I applied kindy glitz to wings and dress and glossy accents to the hair.

Now that box and the letters were dry I brushed sprayed them with three or four colours of glimmer mist and glimmer mist chalkboard, heating them with the heat gun between layers to build up the colour (this was my favourite part - love glimmer mist!!)

While I had the sprays out, I also coloured two white paper flowers, and a couple of punched out butterflies to decorate the frame.

Once my frame was dry, I applied the glimmer mist colours to the top and heated it in between applications of colour.I created a template to create the little envelop, cut it out of pattern paper then sanded it and applied a little glimmer mist to to back of it too before adhering in the centre of the box and adding gemstones around the outside and the flower brad to flap. (this is where the teeth will go to be collected)!!

Now that all is dry, I adhered the frame to the top of the box, added the fairy, letters, flowers and butterflies to the frame, also adding the tiny letters to finish the title and finally spritzing the whole thing with a clear glimmer mist to add a bit more sparkle.

I simply adhered a bit of ribbon to the back of the box with masking tape to hang it on the wall - my five year is busting to lose a tooth now so she can see if the fairy likes it!!!

Shadow Boxes

The thing I love most about working with chipboard is the endless amount of creative possibilities it allows. You can finish chipboard with such a multitude of products and techniques the hardest part is deciding what to use for a particular piece! Creating pieces with chipboard allows me to combine my love of all types of media - from stitching and beading to painting and much more.

Our theme for this week at Scrapware is boxes and memory frames .... products of which Scrapware has an awesome range! For my first project I have used the Mini Shadow Box, KT61. This shadow box is only 4" x 4", a perfect size don't you think! It is super easy to put together, the sides simply fold in. Once I put my box together, I covered the whole thing using plaster cloth. Plaster cloth comes in sheets which I cut down into smaller sized strips. Simply wet it and smooth the layers over the chipboard. Layer by layer gradually build up the plaster using the chipboard box as your "frame". Before you know it you will have a shadow box it looks like you carved out of clay!

Once my plaster was dry I simply coloured it using layers of Glimmer Mists and Walnut Stain inks. I have then use the Small Nadine Frame, CH381 to decorate the window of the box. The Nadine frame is a perfect fit!

My centrepiece is the Elegant Hearts, HS04 which I have also covered using Plaster Cloth. Once the heart was dry I painted it using my favourite Golden Acrylic paints and adhered the new wings behind the heart. These wings are also part of Scrapware's latest release ... you may have been lucky to see them at Paperific in Melbourne recently ... if not they will also be coming to a store near you very soon!

I finished it all off with some sticks from my garden (painted and sprayed with glimmer mists) and some hanging charms and beads.

Another of our latest releases is the Open Shadow Box. Now this new product is just a little bit too awesome! Ange actually sent me a sample of this one some time ago and I have been working on it ever since ... it's been a labour of love indeed!

The frame is constructed in the same way as the other Memory Boxes, only this one is different in that there is no back. For my piece I simple adhered a piece of transparency to the back, adhering my embellished piece of fabric to the front of that on the inside of the box. This gives the inside piece a "floating" effect, cool ha!

As I mentioned the inner piece is actually made of fabric. I have used calico and covered it with layers of printed 7 Gypsies tissue paper and Golden's Fibre Paste medium (love that stuff!). I have then both hand and machine stitched layers of ribbons and flowers on to the piece which was first coloured with Glimmer Mists. I did a separate piece which I adhered the new Keyholes, CH466 on to before stitching this piece to my main piece. I have also used the Elegant Heart HS04 again, first embossing it in the Cuttlebug and then painting lightly with cream paint. I have poked some holes through and sewed on some beads too! Finally I decorated the other frame with a combination of Fibre Paste, printed tissue papers, stitched fabrics and ribbons and the Damask piece which is also new and coming soon!

It's nearly here!! If you aren't sure what I am talking about maybe you need to open your eyes!! EASTER!
The eggs have been on the shelves since boxing day last year and I am sure that most of us have had a few celebratory pre-Easter choccies :)
So I have completed my layout based on the Easter theme. I think it is a "truely eggcelent" layout (hahaha!)

I hope that you have a look back over all your Easter piccies, and scrap some older forgotten ones!
Have a few choccies but be carefully of the addiction and remember Easter is a time for remembering the reason for the season!!!

Hi there Scrapware fans, Hetty here, I was lucky enough for Ange to send me Lissy's birdhouse and for something a bit different I decided to turn it into an Easter project.

I used Kaisercraft Bubblegum Hills printed paper and lots of Prima vines. The windows are covered in mesh and on the inside I added some chicks. The roof acts as a lid dus is removable. I also added a battery operated tealight candle to the bottom of the roof on the inside secured with magnetic tape (not shown in photos) to light up the little house at nighttime. My girls absolutely adore this project and are fighting over who can have it in their room next.

For me, this time of year...

is all about cards! It was my son's birthday yesterday, it is my daughter's on Saturday and my niece's last week so I find myself making a lot of cards all at once... I love using chipboard on everything lol, but particularly on cards, it is such an easy way of adding dimension and texture.

This first card is the one I made for my niece...

It is hard to tell from the photo but this card is actually itty bitty... The gate is one of my favourite of the new release - gate 2 - small (ch 450) which I have inked and clear embossed. I've left the gate slightly ajar to allow some of the leaves and flowers to wind through.

And now for something completely different... these are the invites I made to give to the boys invited to Lucy's party... it would have been *so uncool* to give them the same ones I made for the girls...

I've used the insides of the medium doily frame (CH 463) behind the letters, I've swiped some red paint around the edges and then doodled. The letters are Impact Lg CH White (AZ 13) which I have dry brushed with yellow paint. I've punched out an O and cut out the negative to use as the frame around the 8.

Now I believe somewhere around here I have a 4 year old wanting a train track put together!!

Hello hello Scrapware fans, Bridge here !
Today I am here to share with you a page that I have made all about my two great friends Jodi And Jackie, I moved from the Central Coast 2.5 years ago to a smallish country town of Gunnedah,with no friends except online,and Leaving my best friend behind i was so lonely and missed the Central Coast life, until an online buddy Told me about a scrapper who has her own blog and Guess what she lives in Gunnedah OMGosh, I thought "Gunnedah" no way REALLY LOL ! any way i contacted this Scrapper called Jodi Dolbel by commenting on her blog, Turns out she is just as obsessed with scrapping as i am LOL !! We made plans to have coffee and meet up with a few of her friends which was great, but in the mean time i met up with this lovely lady at school, Jackie and we chatted every afternoon ETC.
SO it was time to meet up with Jodi, She had two buddies with her Brenda and Jackie, and so the friendship began, I am soooo happy i met these girls they bring sunshine to my life :) Ps Brenda was unfortunately not here this day we took the photo...

This photo was taken at our little coffee shop we frequent every week, they make the best Chai latte's mmm mmm

CH22CH tiny swirls which i kept natural and placed a crochet flower in the middle
I have used a CH462Doily Frame 3 Medium, I have cut it in half and painted black, i then tucked it behind my paper, I love that it stands out nicely.

As you can see i have popped a little PC02Photo Corner Decorative up in the top corner, I placed it over my journal tag and painted black.

With the CH386Olivia Frame Medium i have cut it in half, painted it white and then lightly used my pine cone ink to tone down the white, i then placed both pieces at each side of my photo to frame it .

the sweetest friendship

My son Addison has a special little friend named Kate, he just adores her and when ever they play together they have a fabulous time. I wanted to document this sweet relationship that they have.I just love these new iron gates(CH454) from Scrapware found here. I have also used some chippie flowers, these mini flowers and also these button flowers. I simply inked them with brown chalk ink, my favourite technique, so quick and easy and perfect for boy pages!I hope I have inspired you to create a friendship page I would love to see it loaded into our gallery

is the theme this week and I'm here to share my layout using some gorgeous new chipboard from Scrapware.. I felt like scrapping something bright this time and just love the look of the raw chipboard with these bright colours..

The sweet leaves are the CH465 foliage small and CH464 foliage large. I've just added a simple stitch in a few of the leaves and attached a couple of bright paper flowers...

for the 'bff' in the title, I've coloured the AZ03 impact lowercase alphabet with some Autumn Leaves 'turquoise' ink.

We are very fortunate to have the lovely and very talented Nathalie Kalbach from Germany guest designing for us!

Nathalie is a Mixed Media Artist and Scrapbooker living with her American husband in the second biggest city of Germany, Hamburg. Living in the heart of the city in a neighborhood thriving with art & craft, she gets inspired by her urban surroundings. Nat loves to design, teach and write – doing all of it wholeheartedly. She has her own column with Somerset Memories (America) called “Nathalie’s Studio” and also writes for the German Scrapbooking Print Magazine “ScrapArtZine”.

Nat designs for several manufacturers – including Tattered Angels, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L and Punky Sprouts.

She is a certified Educator and most recently a Golden Ambassador for Tattered Angels. She teaches Creative Workshops in several different countries in Europe, Israel and in the United States as well as online for CraftEdu.com and soon in Australia.

Nathalie has been published in several magazines and idea books including Somerset Memories, Somerset Home, Scrapbook Trends, Simple Scrapbooking and ScrapArtZine. She just recently released her own Paper, Stamp and Transparency Line eMOTions with the French Manufacturer Sultane.

Nat has created three wonderful projects for us showing her versatile mixed media style that is fresh and funky and I love it! Here they are:

Nat embossed the small squares with different Embossing folders, then used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Glaze and Staz on on top. For the Overlay frame, Nat has used Tattered Angels Chalkboard and then used Candy Rosenberg's Stamps on top. The Love Blooms was painted with different shades of Glimmer Glaze. The CorreBoard Alphas were sprayed with two colors of Glimmer Mist.

Little things | birthday cards

This month sees the release of Scrapware's new card sheet collection! Beautiful chipboard designs for boys, girls and babies. The following three cards were created using the one chipboard sheet and there is still shapes leftover to create another card! Talk about great value. This would make a really economical project for a kids class (or adult...teehee).

To create these cards, you only need one sheet of cardstock and one sheet of patterned paper. First, trim a 12"x4" strip from your cardstock and fold in half. Then trim the remainder so that you have two 6"x8" pieces. Fold these in half too. Each card front will measure 6"x4"...perfect for a standard sized envelope. The patterned paper on the front of each card measure 5.5"x3.5".

I have coated the chipboard in texta, then dimensional magic or glitter glue (Martha Stewart). Isn't that robot just adorable! I bent his claws so that he'd hold the chipboard words.

Love this super cute rocket! I defined the areas first with a craft knife and then filled with colour. Brads fill the holes perfectly and add a little more dimension.

Just because a piece of chipboard is flat, doesn't mean you can't add definition. I have used four different colours on the planet to define the curve of the planet.

TINY THINGS - BIRD CONDOs for sale

Okayee, LOL...

its the SCRAPWARE Birdhouse Kit,

with the addition of some of those

" gorgeous just cant get enough" Iron fences!

These were heaps of fun to make and I love the way the Tim Holtz distress stains came up just applied straight onto the chipboard. I used walnut on te birdhouse rooves and poles and wild honey on the fences. I coupled these with Basic Grey Origins pattened paper and German scrap

on the rooves and eaves of each house.

I did tweak adding some perching poles and for our the upwardly mobile feathered friends a roomy landing on the centre house. I really can recomend this kit as it looks quite straight forward but I thought up a half dozen different way it could be used ...standby I feel the need to have another "go" with this kit and explore some of those other ideas! Seriously though it went together beautifully with perforated folds and It just so darn cute. Get one for you and one for the kids, a great project to work side by side on on a couple of those rainy school holidays days ahead. ***rolleyes***

I think children around 8 to 10 would need minimal help to make this little treasures.

Along with this kit is emellishment kit which is available

I will appologise I would have liked the photos to be a little better here but I had to take the camera battery off the the charger where its doing its thing in preparation for SCRAPWARE's big weekend show in Melbourne ...just as soon as I finish this blog post I will be packing for a 2.30am train! LOL very excited and thrilled Ange has asked me to help out. I must say I have more than SCRAPWARE butterflies on at this point in time . Cannot wait to meet all the lovely customers!!!

Little Things...

This week the theme of Scrapware is little things.... I love creating little project for my girls so it was a perfect theme for me to kick off the week!For my little things project I decided to play with the doily frames - I began by painting some doily frames - the large, and four small ones (CH461, CH457, CH463) and setting them aside to dry.

Once dry, I stamped each painted frame with a range of decorative stamps using white ink, I then went over each one with the heat gun to dry the ink.
Now came the fun part - decorating each piece - I wanted the frames to become a hanging piece with a photo of all my gorgeous girls on the big doily and then one of each of them on the smaller ones.

For the large doily, I outlined and cut out a sun from patterned paper and backed a small wallet print of my girls with co-ordinating paper. I added a small heart (CH319) and some crocheted flowers before backing a quote sticker with foam tape and adhering it along to bottom of the frame. I finished the large doily by cutting a large circle from pattern paper and adhering it to the back of the frame to strengthen it.
For the smaller frames I backed them with funky cupcake wrappers I found at Typo. Before punching scalloped circles from pattern paper and from my wallet prints. I finished off each smaller frame with the girls initials (AZ03) and a tiny shape.
To hang my little frames, I threaded embroidery thread through the top of each one at different intervals attaching them to the top frame.

And then I hung it from a picture hook in my kitchen for the girls to find ; )

There's plenty of technique in this one and chopping up the full 12x12 sheet of circles looks great!

A Toadstool Type Home!

A little twist on the HOME theme - for this canvas I used the brand new Toadstool House. I love this product, something a little different and ever so cute don't you think?

To colour the toadstools I have used the new Tim Holtz Distress Stains. These make colouring chipboard ever so easy. The bottle comes with a sponge dabber top, so it is as simple as dab it on and voila, your piece is coloured. Because of the fluid nature of the product, blending the colours is also easy - that's how I achieved the two tone colouring on the Toadstool House.

With a little patience I managed to adhere the new Scrapware Fences CH448 and Gate to the front of the canvas, with space behind for flowers and embellishment. I have also used the Toadstools CH443 and the new Foliage (small) CH465. It's hard to show you the detail ... which just means you will have to come and see us at Melbourne Paperific to see it in real life! !

Next up I created this Reverse Canvas which features one of the Wisteria Lane Houses KT39.

I have further embellished the house with German Scrap borders and the tiny little German Scrap Keyhole. The Nadine frame (Medium) CH380 is perfect for this sized canvas (8" x 8"). I have simply painted the chipboard house with white gesso and dry brushed some pink acrylic over the top. The roof is covered with calico which I have then gesso'ed and finished with a gold Rub n Buff. A HOME wouldn't be complete without a nest! To create the nest I have simply used Coconut Fibre which I have painted white. I admit, painting coconut fibre is a challenge ... but worth it, lol!

I have also used some of the newest Scrapware products - the new Foliage CH465 and the Lamp Post Triple CH441. This piece will also be on display at Melbourne Paperific next weekend.

Home Sweet Home!

This week the theme, as you have no doubt seen already, is HOME!!
I decided to take that literally and complete a layout using some of the pictures of mine and my husband Tim's very first home :)
I cant believe that we bought this property in December 2001, about 2mths after we had been married! 10 years goes so very fast!

The gorgeous Scrapware goodies that I have used are:

Aren't these lil' houses simply adorable?? (I think they are!) And so very easy to use on layouts, off the page and cards! (Check here to see a beautiful example of a new home card using the mini houses).
I have given the chippy a quick coat of white paint, then put it through the cuttlebug in the swiss dots folder, then inked lightly over the embossing. To create the roof I have used a boarder punch and overlapped the strips. And finally I covered the little door and used a brad as the handle. the result : ooohhh cute!

Isn't this home banner scrumptious?? I have covered the little triangles of the banner and then embossed the letters with some puff white embossing powder and finished them off with a little bit of distressing ink.
So easy to do and it really makes your layout complete!

This week's theme is "home" which prompted me to do a layout I have been meaning to do for a month now... In early February in Perth there was a devastating bushfire which destroyed 72 houses and threatened many more. The fire stayed around 2 km from my home but came within meters of my parent's house. This picture is of the house on the block my parent's originally intended to build on.. it is only 1 km from their current house and was completely gutted... we are so grateful my parent's house was spared... as the title says, there, but for the grace of God, go I...

I have used a few of my all time favourite scrapware products... beach grass, mini beach grass and butterflies... I have just left them raw with just a quick ink around the edges with distress ink.

I hope you're inspired to scrap about your own homes, though fingers crossed your layouts will be a touch less dramatic!

Vintage shadow box

Hi everyone, I love anything vintage and anything to do with shadow boxes so I combined the two and came up with a vintage shadow box using some Graphic 45 Once upon a Springtime printed papers. I was lucky enough for Ange to send me some gorgeous new releases including this cute little shadow box.

I also used the CH441 Lamp Post Triple Small and the CH450 Iron Gate 1 Small which I covered in distressing powder.

Hi all Scrapware fans, Bridgette here, This week i was super organised, ummm a little bit too organised, because I accidentally put my first Vintage post up on Tuesday rather than Friday OOPPPS! LOL soooo here I am again . This page started out to be a vintage inspired page then something changed as i was scrapping, I got a little carried away and the Vintage LO turned out to be a shabby chic type LO, OOpppss again. But i did use Scrapware products and since i already scrapped my vintage page earlier i think maybe the boss lady won't mind so much, Hmm what do you think ? it is Friday after all RIGHT hehe!!
So here we have Growing like a weed, Amelia was found picking wet the beds to make daisy chains this day, the weeds do look very pretty in this photo but we have 5 acres of them, and they grow like CRAZY, so does my little miss, she is growing up before my eyes.

( I apologise for my photo it was taken tonight )
Don't you just love the large doily oh they are so pretty, I painted mine aqua, white washed it and then used my pinecone ink to tone down the colour which co-ordinated with my papers.
The picket fence has simply been painted white and again distressed with my pinecone ink, lastly i have used a bracket which I painted light pink ,then used my Pine cone ink again to tone it down, then with a dry brush i randomly brushed strokes over the top .
And there we have it, one Non vintage page (giggle)

boyish vintage style

So many things in the scrappy world are geared towards girly vintage...having two boys I often find it hard to find scrappy goodies to suit my boyish layouts...however this is so easy to achieve with a bit of raw chipboard from Scrapware's fabulous range, including this gorgeous new doily frame 3 found here some fabbo vintage style letters (antique lowercase letters here) and my old favourite a mini crown here.

A little while ago we had a fabulous photo shoot in Toowoomba and I was lucky enough to receive this fabulous photo of my two boys in my package...perfect for this weeks vintage theme!

I have simply inked the edges of all the chipboard pieces in colorbox brown chalk ink, and then glued them to my page with silicone glue to add a bit of depth to my layout!

I hope I have inspired you to get out those boy photos and scrap them in vintage style...I would love to see them loaded up into our gallery.

This week is vintage week at Scrapware, a theme i love to scrap, My hubby's hobby is family history he loves finding out all the nitty gritty happenings of the past,over the years he has found so many beautiful vintage family photo's, they are so special to us and are treasured forever, lately i have been scrapping recent photos that i had taken of my girls so it was a nice change to scrap an older photo
The person in this photo is my Husband's mum, she was a model in the early 1970's before she had her 5 children eekk !! she really loved those days so i think i will frame this page for her and give it to her as a gift.

Ange has just released these gorgeous doilies they are so pretty and really fitted in well with this page
All i have done is painted them silver and then using my pine cone ink i have distressed them to give them an aged look .
I have used another new release the Large lamp post, oh its so gorgeous, I sprayed it with Walnut gold glimmer mist then waited for the glimmermist to dry , I then dry brushed white paint roughly in places to give my post a shabby chic type of look and then modge podged it to give it a little shine

And lastly i have used 4 Baroque trims to place in each corner of my page, I painted them silver and then using the same technique as before i distressed them using my pinecone ink.

I have sewn tulle into my background paper to give my page a soft feminine look, to do this all you need to do is place your tulle over a background paper , gather while you sew along the edges and then once it has been sewn into place you can place a frame over the top to hide unsightly sewing and rough edges, i have sewn the border to hold it all into place firmly.

it's vintage week...

Hi there, this week is all about 'vintage'..I don't know about you, but it's one of my favourite types of layouts to do lately! There are so many gorgeous Scrapware pieces which will add charm to you vintage creations.. For this layout of my father and his little dog, I've chosen to use the classic AZ08 Antique Lowercase alphas and MI20 Mini Apples - these are so sweet!

The apples were very quick and easy to do, just some Versacolor 'cardinal' red ink and a little 'pine cone' on the edges..

..and to age the letters I tried to pick up a few of the colours in the background paper; some more Versacolor in 'cyan' (a mid blue) 'bark' and 'burgundy', while leaving parts of the chipboard still raw. Then I drew a bit of an outline using a Pentel white gel pen.

I can't wait to see what vintage creations the rest of the girls are sharing this week, you can guarantee there'll be plenty of inspiration to come!!

Recipe mini album

Have you got a big project? Why not go mini? I don't often create mini albums, but when I have a subject that calls for more than a double page layout, a mini album is the perfect answer. I have used Scrapware's NEW! Bracket mini album to document a well treasured family recipe.

The bracket on the front cover has been covered in a grid patterned paper, then rubons have been added around the frame. All of the edges have been inked in Umber. For the inner pages I have stuck to the formula of photo, patterned paper and embellishments on the left facing page, and recipe on the right. I love the size of this album. At just a fraction smaller than 6"x6", it holds a standard sized photo perfectly with room left for embellishment!

The back cover has been covered in patterned paper and a diecut shape. A Scrapware flourish sweeps across the back cover, extending out from under a chip flower. The flourish has been been coated in glaze only so that the other colours pop.

SCRAPWARE TEXTURED ARTIST TRADING CARDS

These are some of the Artist Trading cards I have made recently

I have been enjoying exploring textures using SCRAPWARES ATC, bases and frames.

For anyone unsure of what an Artist Trading Card (ATCs)
here is a quick overview...

They are little artworks 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches in size or 64mm x 89 mm for we folk who live in metric land. ATCs have a wonderful, rich history and have been being created and exchanged as far back as the 16th century. In more recent history scrapbookers and papercrafters have taken an interest in making these cards.

They are usually made in sets of three or five and given away or swapped with other artists for their cards.Technically they cannot be sold but similar works of the same specifications can be made to be sold they are called ACEOs ( Art Cards, Editions and Originals)

Some people take part in organised swaps over the internet, making their cards and posting them to a designated organiser who then in turn posts them to participants'. Cards can also be exchanged in person at swap meetings often hosted by ATC hobby groups. I have know of people who created, swapped and or collected thousands of Artist trading cards from all over the world. They can be displayed and there specialised display trays or collected in albums.

SCRAPWARE Artist Trading Card products come in a number of forms. All are to specifications, everything from the the plain rectangular bases to fine elaborate filigree frames. Alot of the gorgeous Arty/Miniatures SCRAPWARE products are perfect for ATC as are many of the other smaller chipboard pieces. That said there is no reason to restrict yourself to only creating ATCs with the ATC range They can also be used for mountings, as card topper's, for journalling or "Blocking" on scrapbook pages and as the base for creating the lovely clay tile mosaics that have
been popping up on all sorts of creative blogs of late. see one of my favourite artists Laurie Mika
If you think having a go at an ATC would be something you'd like to try I will help as much as I can and you can contact me through my blog but I suggest get yourself some SCRAPWARE bases and create a few pretty collaged card toppers that's a good way to get a feel for the challenge of workking is such a small space. Or illustrate a quote or poem that is my favourite method to make ATC.

For this set of ATCs I wanted to create some depth, layers and textures and see if I could do that using my gorgeous much loved CUTTLEBUG, gifted to me by a dear friend Natalie Woofe who you all know from the DT ***waving*** The CUTTLEBUG for those of you who don't know is a very easy to use cutting/embossing machine. Its one of many on the market and has a number of different patterned embossing folders you can purchase to use with it. Brilliant for using with the less finer larger SCRAPWARE pieces, especially with birds, flowers, crowns and most especially the stylish Audrey and Lucie SCRAPWARE dress makers Torso's.

The ATC SCRAPWARE base card we rolled through the cuttlebug and then layered and decorated with metal shim, LUMIERE PAINTs (my fav in all the world) different glues glass seed beads and Golden glass bead gel medium some places were heated and paint or medium heated til it boiled and blistered with a heat gun to create texture. Three words if your going to try this at home people ...ventilation ventilation,VENTILATION! LOL Although its a bit of a "pongee" techniqueue it gives some wonderful interesting results, I think. Hence this set of cards have been titled "THE ART IS LIFE" experimental set. The face is created out of paper clay which is light and especially easy to use on ATCs.

A CUTTLEBUGed SCRAPWARE ATC BASE AND FLOWERS

The flowers are raw and the same SWIRL embossing folder I used for the "hypnotic" ATC the SCRAPWARE base is cog pattern simply rubbed with an ink pad!

Despite there not being alot of SCRAPWARE to see on these I really wanted show just how awesome the ATC products are The bases benefits are many as i said before they are versatile, they are a heavy chipboard to minimise bowing and curling that comes with using mix media on thinner ATC card, precision in size beautiful frames I could cut anddddd..... the conveniece of not having to cut tiny bases to size. If you find yourself in a number of swaps, that can be anything up to ten cards each that's a large amount of time saved!!! (Hence ANGE can NEVER stop manufacturing them now I am addicted to them! LOL).

I also liked how using the plain SCRAPWARE frame drew you eye in and added a little protection to the texture areas. ( I was not so lucky on the Hypnotic card. I pushed air into the glaze on the card to make air bubbles and then like a clumsy oaf lent on it as I got up popping them! sheshhh!)

When you haven't got a mini album...

Hi everyone!

Jen Hall here, When I went to sit down last week to create my mini album project, I realized I didn't actually have a mini album to work with, so after surveying all the contents of my Scrapware box of goodies - I decided that the Scrapware large scalloped gift bag would make a great mini album for my little fashionista Marnie - whose is ALL about the accessories these days ; )
I began by cutting off the base and side pieces from the chipboard and painting one side each of the bag "covers" with acrylic paint and setting them aside to dry.

Once dry, I covered the side of the covers with patterned paper and cut it out, outlining both the covers and the inside with a black pen.

Next, I adhered pattern pattern back to back and traced my cover shape (minus the handle) onto it and cut it out - I cheated a little and used scalloped scissors to cut across the top of the pages. I repeated this step another six or so times to create the inside pages.

To adhere to pages inside the covers, I measured the distance across the bottom of the cover, and cut two strips from 12x12 patterned paper - and adhered them together length wise and folded them up as if I was creating a fan. This created the "spine" of my little book. I had enough folds to adhere to each page and then cut off the excess.

I adhered the folded strip to the bottom of the front cover and lay my pages down in the "valleys" of the folds until I was happy with the result and them simply adhered them together with double-sided tape.
Once my pages were all adhered, I began adding my photos and embellishments - lots of cut out patterned paper, chipboard, crocheted flowers and things from my stash.

I outlined each page in black pen, and add little bits of journaling here and there.

I finished the book by stitching embroidery thread through the front and back covers so that I could tie book closed.

Here are some shots from inside the book - I took these photos before and at her Childcare graduation, a little keepsake of her special night - she loved it so much she has slept with the last three nights ; )

Who loves a mini album?

I absolutely love sitting down and creating something little, something that get's finished...and so the mini album is born.

This album is about my baby's year in Prep, so I created a new Bracket Album ALB22. It has 5 pages all together with one of them having the bracket (that I have chopped up for my cover) cut out of it. It has the most perfect sized pages...just smaller than 6 inches so you can get the most out of your papers or use the cute 6x6 paper pads.

I have also used Nadine Swirls Tiny (CH405) the new mini Clock Cogs which are just so small and delicious (CH437). Don't forget you can get out your sewing machine and stitch straight through our chipboard...

Also used throughout the mini album is CH436 Seeing Stars and a small piece of CH428 Alyssa Flourish Large. The chippy pieces have either been left natural or given a coating with Pinecone ink.

Flowers for Little Girls

Continuing with our floral theme this week I have created a couple of layouts using the stunning range of Scrapware floral chippy pieces as well as some brand new products!

To start with is this layout which features a brand new product from Scrapware - the 12" Doily Frame (Doily Frame 3 Large). This will be available in stores VERY SOON so keep your eye out! As I wanted a fairly neutral effect so as to highlight the red paper I kept the chipboard colouring to whites and creams. I have first given all of the chipboard pieces a coat of gesso and once dried I have lightly painted them with a light tan paint. To give the leaves a different effect I hae then sponged Walnut Stain distress ink over the top, bending each leaf with my fingers to give them life.

To colour the flowers I stamped over the painted surface with a decorative stamp and Versafine ink in a sepia colour. I love the effect this creates. For the smaller flowers I have dry brushed some gesso over the top of the stamping. To create the large flower I have used the Marilyn Flourish Bloom and roughly cut some calico to the same shape. The piece of calico is then layered over the flourish flower, with the smaller stamped Marilyn flowers layered over the top of that. Add some small beads to the centre and voila, a beautiful floral centrepiece for your layout!

A friend gave me an absolutely stunning photo of her daughter Zoe recently so I had to scrap it with this week's floral theme in mind .... perfect for this photo!

The chipboard flowers in this layout have been painted using a Claudine Hellmuth tan paint followed by a coat of Glimmer Glaze. I love this stuff, and I love the satin finish it gives the chipboard. I have then used Making Memories floral brads and Kaiser paper flowers as centres for the chipboard flowers.

Floral Friday!!

Happy Friday everyone!

This weeks theme, as you are probably have all seen on the blog, by the stunning work from the talented Scrapware DT, is flowers.
I have to say that I just love flowers on my layouts. I find that I put flowers of some description on nearly every layout that I complete, (even the male and boy layouts).
And the gorgeous array of chippy flowers that Ange creates through Scrapware are no exception! You can check the wide variety of Scrapware flowers out here online.
So this week I have completed a soft girly layout featuring my absolute favourite Scrapware flower to date - Dawn Rose :)
The picture is of my middle daughter Charlotte and I have used the Girls Paperie pattern papers as I just love the combination of the soft girly florals with the beautiful Scrapware Dawn Roses.

I have used the following Scrapware goodies on my layout:

To create the "sweet" word in my title I have simply covered the Impact Lowercase Alphas with an old book page, inked with Tim Holtz distress ink and then Mod Podged.

The Dawn Roses and the Chipboard Flourish have been inked and the brushed over with a thin coat of Tim Holtz clear crackle paint. I then madly over heated them with my heat gun to cause the paint to blister and bubble giving the "shabby vintage" look.

Hope that are as inspired to create with your Scrapware flowers as I am. And here's hoping that you get some time over the weekend to indulge in some serious scrapbooking!!

As you've probably guessed it is flower week here at Scrapware and I love love love Scrapware's flowers so I thought this would be an easy page to do. Well, as it turns out I love them so much I have run out lol, so I decided to use one of the gorgeous floral frames instead...

I have clear embossed the love blooms frame and then layered flowers around it to bring out the floral details around the border.

Hi Hetty here with you today sharing this layout using the gorgeous Basic Grey Curio printed papers which I think goes perfectly with the photo and the Scrapware chippie.

As you can see in this close up, I painted the flowers with Tim Holtz crackle paint, sprinkled on some irridescant glitter and stamped over it with a Prima script stamp. I left the Marilyn flourish Bloom raw to tie in with the wood in the photo but I did stamp on it with the same Prima script stamp. Finished them off with some Basic Grey fabric flowers from the Pyrus range and some buttons.

Card Keepers at Scrapware

Hi Everyone, I hope you are having a gorgeous weekend, I have been helping my hubby put up posts and beams so i am not having the best weekend ever LOL but hey we are making progress on our house, so that's gotta to be good right??
Any way yesterday i got a package from Miss Boss lady with my cardkeeper in there and lots of other yummy new products, wow you should see them GORGEOUS..
In my parcel there were three other pieces that i loved straight away and as soon as i saw them i knew exactly what my card keeper was going to be transformed into, I have decided not to keep cards in here because i have something very special which my girls really truly believe in!! I think that it is a really special magical memory for them. This little card keeper is going to store all of my girls letters from their fairies. yep we have a fairy garden out the front and the girls receive little letter's every now and then, these letters come from the queen of fairy land, her name is Millicent,she talks of lots of adventures that the fairy's take and also what they have been doing of late, they also answer my girls letters too which is very exciting for them, Occasionally Millicent has to go and visit other fairy friends so that means other fairy's may write to my girls and tell their stories too.

Last night i got to work on my fairy keeper and this is what i ended up with

I covered my arched window card keeper CK03 in the ever pretty Pink Paislee paper , i hand cut the flowers and using a craft knife i cut out parts of the flower petals so that my petals can stand up and have a little height and dimension.
I cut out the window shapes and glued the paper in place, turned the front over and attached this gorgeous heavy lace using a hot glue gun, I then placed a light yellow paper behind that so we can see the yellow through the lace
I apologise in advance for the dodgy pictures It's not the best lighting here today

Fairy: CH445 Fairy 1 Flourish Wings

The fairy has been coated with a shimmer paint and then i have embossed her with an embossing powder called poly sparkle, she has then been given silver wings and her wings have also been embossed, her wand has the same colours.

Don't you just love the little fairy door down the bottom, firstly i gave this a little shimmer with some purple pearls and then used the poly sparkle embossing powder again for a little bit of shine, which you can't see on the photo :( it does look very pretty in real life) ..

For the back i have used CH06 Chipboard Flower Swirls and have painted it a pretty yellow and randomly sprinkled silver glitter to finish it off. I have placed a cream pearl in the centre of the flower .

So there we have it one fairy letter keeper for my girls, they love it and have written a letter today for their fairies to read it is sitting in the garden awaiting a reply :) I think that the fairy's are a bit busy, as there is no reply yet !!

love letters...

When Ange sent me this NEW arched window card keeper CK03 , I knew instantly what I wanted to "keep"inside, my precious love letters from when my husband and I first started dating. I kept the card keeper fairly simple, I just covered the back and front in pattern paper then once the glue was dry, trimmed the excesss off, sanded and then inked the edges.

I added a ring to the top and then tucked my love letters inside.

To finish off the front I added one of the new Scrapware Mini lamp posts, which I simply inked in brown chalk and layered over some simple embellishments and a photo.

On the back I have added a vine branch CH298 again simply inked with brown chalk ink.

To finish off I tied it together with some bakers twine and organza, to complete the romantic look but also in the hope that I can easily open it to add more letters LOL!

card keeper..

Hi all, it's my turn to share a 'card keeper' with you.. They are such a great idea and make the perfect gift as well.. I ended up giving this one to my eldest daughter Rhi to store all of her special cards in, but now someone else is keen to have one too, so it looks like I'll be making another for Jem soon :)

I chose this lovely 3 window design to work with.. along with some of my favourite Scrapware chippies and a few other embellishments..

I've gone for a bit of a shabby chic look and painted the card keeper with some gesso, the texture of the chipboard was great to work with so I've actually left a little showing through the paint. I've added a few touches of old book paper and crackle paint and some sticky-backed plasterboard tape for texture.

The antique mini frame has been inked in turquoise and the centre piece of chipboard covered with old book paper and a light gesso wash before adding the date stickers..

The antique lowercase alpha were first painted in gesso, then inked with a charcoal colour, making it darker at the bottom. Once dry I gave them a coat of Ranger Glossy Accents..

My daughter's put just a few cards in so far, but there's plenty of room on the ring to add more cards through the year..

and finally, a close up showing the flowers, which were inked in red, with a Kaisercraft pearl in each centre..

and just before I go, I thought I'd share a simple card I made this week for my sister's birthday..

I've created the background using some gesso and layers of ink (Ranger Colour Wash) sprayed onto a non-stick craft sheet and spritzed with water. I've written 'happy birthday' in white pen over the background, added a die-cut strip and a couple of blossom flowers (can you tell how much I love these?) It's a fun design to do and very quick..I think the raw chipboard goes great against the busy background..

SCRAPWARE ...a wise choice indeed!

I hope you enjoy my latest project for the salubrious SCRAPWARE and well quite honestly it was mostly an accident! I love this piece of canvas cardart but it actually started life as a card for my 87 year old grandfathers birthday which we celebrated on the weekend. I have to admit I grew increasingly concerned as I felt possessed to use diamante embosing powder and Tattered Angels Glimmer Glams*. It looked great and I was happy with it and whatever muse had me in its grips guided me to a box of googly eyes and....

well I knew...had NO doubts then ...it had to be for my gorgeous nephew Zak who's birthday

is a day after his great grandfather's. LOL

PRODUCTS USED: two 15 x 20cm Canvas's, Lumiere paints,Yellow and Junikins Diamond sparkle embossing powder, Tattered Angels glimmer glam*, Carolees creation adorn it mini alpha stickers, silver paper, googly eyes and ...

These SCRAPWARE products ...

It took me a couple of hours, 4 inks, a couple paints and an artline permanent marker's worth of playing till I was happy with the owl. Finally paydirt a stipple, fan or corse hair paint brush to almost dry brush Dimensional magic clear glaze over him to make him to create that feathery look.

Diamond sparkle embossing powder look AMAZING as stars sadly for some reason the camera didn't pick up the dazzling effect very well. It was strange every time the cameras focused the lovely holographic sparkle all but didisappeared so I took one out of focus just for you guys! LOL

I also used a tiny wash of *Tattered Angels Glimmer Glams which gave just as gorgeous effect, except finer. The glimmer Glams are a fluid liquid wash you can put over a canvas or art work for some sparkle. The glitter in them is quite fine and the bottle needs to be thoroughly shook before you use it to get the best effect. The wash can be almost clear as the one I used called "chandelier" or tinted with a translucent colour. There are dozens of different tints and I have to say this has been one of the BRILLIANT "finds" of last year.

I dismissed them for ages "oh just another glitter for girly girl's scrapbooking pages ...boring"! But boring they are NOT they can just add that final arty zing to a collage or magical sparkle to a background paper.

Oh and have I mentioned they are AWESOME for chipboard!

I have used SCRAPWARE pieces raw on cards or layout just with a tinted wash of glimmer glams or I have painted SCRAPWARE then gone over the top with glimmer glams for a subtle sparkle...if you haven't tried a bottle I highly recommend you get one my favourite and I think the most versatile to start with is "chandelier" but once you're page pops you just cant stop at one!!! LOL

NEW | Card Keepers

Do you keep cards from special occasions because you can't bear to throw them away?

Do you store your cards in drawers and shoe boxes because you don't know what to do with them?

If you answered yes to the above, I have the answer for you. Scrapware's Card Keepers are exactly what you need! Card Keepers measure 6"x8", so are big enough to hold most cards. They consist of a front and back piece in chipboard. The cards are held in place using a ring or ribbon, or whatever you choose. The bigger the fastener, the more cards your Card Keeper will hold.

I have used Scrapware's new Arch Window card keeper to house all of my wedding cards (that have been sitting in a shoe box for nearly 10 years!). I now feel they've been given the respect they deserve. I have covered the front in Pink Paislee patterned paper, then cut through the arch. You could leave the windows open to view the cards underneath, however I chose to stick a Basic Grey doily underneath. I then added some more Scrapware chipboard to the front to finish off.

The back of the card keeper has been covered in Scribble Scrabble patterned paper, and a little more of the Basic Grey doily. A cream ribbon has been threaded through a ribbon slide and adhered to the back. One of Scrapware's new Doily Frames has been added to finish.

Scrapware's new Doily Frames come in two pieces...the frame, and a chipboard circle inner. I detached the frame, coloured it with markers and added a little glaze.

I then created a spiral rose using the inner circle, so there was no waste! Scrapware's chipboard can easily be cut with scissors and rolled. The end result is a lot sturdier, which is great when using it for an off the page project. I then adhered the spiral rose to the centre of one of Scrapware's Marilyn Blooms. The petals of the flower have been turned up to give even more dimension. Also featured on the front of the Card Keeper is Scrapware's new Foliage shapes (there are four to a sheet!).

At the bottom of the Card Keeper, I have used Scrapware's new Iron Gates. They are super cute and intricate, and they fit perfectly across each of the windows on the front.

Tonight I am sharing a layout I did recently using these beautiful butterflies ( CH313)

I often say to my seven year old that she is my butterfly girl - she is such a creative free little spirit!

For this layout I also used the lovely storyboard kit by Lisa Warren.

I simply painted my butterflies with an acrylic paint and set them aside to dry while I created the rest of the elements of the layout, once dry, I folded the butterflies a little to give them dimension before adhering just the bodies to the layout using glossy accents. I wanted to give the layout a whimsical feel and have the butterflies appear to be flying right off the page. I think these butterflies are going to become a staple in my scrap supplies - I can see them being used on so many of my girly pages ; )

This week at Scrapware we are designing with "things with wings". Now since I love butterflies, birds and pretty much anything with a wing I was pretty excited to get creating for this week's theme.

I have used a never-before-seen brand spanking new Scrapware product which will be released very soon. It is a 3 compartment shadow box, with each compartment measuring 4" x 4" inside. Pretty cool hey!

The outer frame of my shadow box has been first covered with gauze followed by a wash of acrylic paint (raw umber) and finishing with some Rub n Buff metallic waxes. The inside of each compartment has been first covered using some old sheet music paper, followed by a wash of acrylic paint.

There are so many ways to finish the 3D butterflies (CH309), the possibilities are endless. As I was going for a rather distressed style for this project, I have simply inked the top part of the wings with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. The solid part of the wings is painted with crimson acrylic paint, followed by a light application of the Walnut Stain Distress Ink using a sponge.

These small 3D butterflies (CH310) are coloured using Walnut Stain Distress Ink once again, followed by a light application of crimson acrylic paint on the outer wing.

The wings of the mannequin (Lucie Torso LB04) are created using the solid part of the 3D wings, simply cut in half. I have used two mannequins, running one of them through the Cuttlebug with a swirl design embossing folder and colouring with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I then adhere the two painted wings behind this piece, and adhere another mannequin to the back.

The words are created using the Antique Mini Alphas (AZ10) which have been painted crimson followed by an application of Crackle Accents.

The project is then finished off using some old "found" objects I had lying around - tiny nuts and bolts, old rusted nails and old watch parts I have been collecting.

I still have a few things in the pipeline, so hopefully I will have more to share soon!

One Cute Critter

Continuing on with this weeks theme of "Monsters and Critters", I thought I might create a little gift for the newest "critter" in my family - my nephew Ned. My sister (Ned's mummy) is a vintage freak and loves any thing that has that "aged" look.
I am so in love with the Scrapware memory boxes, and have made quite a few as gifts for friends and family.
The memory boxes are simple to construct and perfectly made to adorn with beautiful scraping supplies!

I thought this cute little turtle was the perfect "critter" to use for this newborn project :)
I have simply painted, inked and then Mod Podged him to get this soft vingtagey or aged look.The memory box is simply covered with pattern paper, and whipped through my sewing machine (that hasn't really been used for fabric in the sewing sense for years and years now!! LOL) misted and pieced together.
The gorgeous letter "n" completes the vintage feel and has been given a couple of coats of Tim Holts ink.
Off to Perth to visit my sister and my new lil' nephew tomorrow so I will let you know how she likes the gift!!

My little boy started kindy this week so I have been scrapping lots to keep the tears at bay lol... not any photos of him though because they would make me cry!

The blog topic this week is critters and monsters and I had two ideas... so I decided to do them both :-) The first layout is of my deep thinking Lucy...

I really got into the layering on this one and the chipboard butterflies just added that extra bit of texture...

This next layout actually sat half finished on my desk for almost a week, then Eliza was bitten by a bee for the first time in 2 years... after a quick trip to the emergency department for some cortisone I figured someone was trying to tell me something so I finished the layout lol...

The bumble bee comes with chipboard wings but I wanted to soften it a little so I used a couple of flower petals instead...

Butterflies and ladybugs

Hi everyone, Hetty here today with some more critters. Ladybugs would have to be my favorite bugs, they are just soo cute and the Scrapware ones are just adorable.

The butterfly vine I cut up so I was able to attach seperate pieces in different areas. The butterfly and ladybug I coloured in with my gelly rolls. The leaves, which were part of the butterfly I covered in flowersoft. The little birdie is covered with flocking and for the title I used liquid pearls.
