Final post from Trizzy

Just wanted to say a BIG thank you to Angela for letting me be a part of the DT for Scrapware. I love using chipboard, there are so many possibilities and the designs seem to be endless! I have to say that my favourite are the memory boxes :)  It was great working with all the girls on the team and it was really nice meeting Angela and Lisa IRL at the Penrith show just recently!

There is so much amazing talent - you girls ROCK!! Each week I was blown away by all your awesomness - keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing a lot of you at camp Mojo next year!

I want to wish the 2011 DT all the best - I am sure you will continue to have fun working with Scrapware - also would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a very creative New Year!

Summer's Here

And here at scrapware we are celebrating with some summer inspiration.

First up we have this delightful number by the super gorgeous Renee.

I am just so in love with this layout, the gorgeous bright colours and the little creatures just scream summer! And what a fab idea to add some stitching detail to those leaves on the branch.

How stunning does this title look? Renee has embossed them with the cuttlebug, and then over the top with some ink.

Wowsers, these flowers blow me away. They look awesome!

Next up, Trizzy has given this memory box some summer treatment. A stunning black frame with flourish corner trims, and correboard alphas, then decorated with some fabulous summery embellies.

Here's how Trizzy created her project:

The memory box was painted with acrylic paints, the outside heated till it bubbled and highlighted. The alphas were sprayed with memory mist and silver gilding wax was applied. I adhered some gauze and hot glued glass pebbles, shells and glass tiles to the piece.

And lastly my mother-in-law gave me this sweet pic of my husband on holidays with his family some 25yrs ago. It was just screaming for some bright summery treatment.

Tee hee. Just check them out. How sweet!

Here's a close-up of the title alphas, which I sprayed with glimmermist, then applied a light layer of embossing powder.

And for the sun, clouds and bird, I used a white pen to outline the shape, then applied some ink, followed by some glimmermist.

This weeks theme is Borders

This Week I have decided to create another Memory box - I just love the concept of these, I think they are brilliant!! I have used flowers this time - so out came some glitter, inks, wire and beads!!

I have used FL02 Flowers, BD10 Picket fence, CH08 Flower corner and of course a Memory box KT43 6x6. I used some Liquid Acrylic pearlescent ink to colour the chipboard - on the fence I heated it so it bubbled and on the flowers I added some ultra fine glitter and some gem stones. I also used some wire so I can hang this piece.

To colour the scalloped border I have first painted it with white gesso. Once the gesso was dry, I wiped over the border very lightly with a little Pewter Blue JW Metallic Wax on my finger. The Do Hicky is also painted first with white gesso and then painted with Snickerdoodle Smooch Ink.

I will be talking more about colouring with Smooch Inks in my Wednesday night Technique Post.

Beautiful layouts using borders by Natalie May

With such beautiful photos, Natalie has created an amazing layout!!

This is what Natalie used: CH335--Do-Hicky, gave it a coat of Chalk Glimmermist! and also used a word from WT06--miracle/perfect/wonder word trio, painted it in Glimmermist then used Distress Crackle Paint.

This layout was also made by Natalie May - its just gorgeous!! I love the colours of the ocean always makes for great photos!!

Natalie said: "This page of my cousins twins was perfect for the BD16 Starfish Border. I used Perfect Pearls for the finish!"

Love this technique...

First thing that comes into my mind when I think of gates and fences is, rusty old gates and fences! I have been looking for a quick and easy way of producing this look without making to much mess which is what usually happens when I am playing - lol. I have used CH326 garden gate.

First I painted the gate with black acrylic paint and let it dry - if you are in a hurry like I usually am you can hurry up the drying process with a heat gun - a girls best friend!

When this is dry ink up the entire gate with Versamark ink and sprinkle on a layer of Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Powder in Vintage Photo - tip excess powder back into your container then heat the powder gently - its really hard to tell if this powder is embossed, it only just changes colour and if you over do it, it will burn - but this kinda looks cool too! Then using your finger gently rub off the release crystals and you will end up with a very rusty feeling gate!

I like to add a bit of colour to it and use Atelier brand 'Red Gold' with a damp sea sponge and just dab some colour here and there

If you add too much of the red gold, just rub some black Stazon over the top to darken it up - I think this is a really cool technique and suits the theme of Gates and Fences!

A Little Shabby Chic

What a fabulous treat we have for you this week, with all things Shabby Chic, and so many beautiful creations from the Scrapware girls.

First up from Gilly we have the fabulously shabby "Own Little World"

Gilly put mod podge on the banners and covered it with an old music sheet, left it for 1 min, then pulled ther paper back off leaving some print behind, then inked around the edges and sewed a piece of lace on top to make the banner. Doesn't it look beautiful!!

The Do Hicky was sprayed with Glimmer Mist Chalkboard Hot chocolate, then covered in Cinnamon Stickles to add some bling.

With the alphas, Gilly inked them in light brown, then used clear crackle paint on top, going over again with a dark brown ink once the crackle paint was dry to create an aged look.

Gilly has used CH341 Do Hicky 7, CH392 Mini Banners, AZ08 Antique Lowercase Alphas.

Next up, from Hetty with her beautiful "Princess"...

What a pretty pretty layout, with all those pink flowers arranged perfectly around the raw chipboard.

Hetty has addded just a little texture by embossing the heart.

Hetty has used CH28 Tree Flourish Large, WD190 Princess Word, CH131 Flourish Shelley, and HS05 Primitive Heart.

And now check out this stunning piece from Trizzy.

Trizzy has used LB19 Flourish Frame and CH225 Twinchie Overlay B - both of which were painted with Antique white & Spearmint Kaiser Colour and highlighted with gold gilding wax. The corner of the overlay was given a few layers of white emossing powder, which was then stamped and highlighted as well.

Skeleton leaves were used and highlighted and tucked in under the image. Gold german scrap creates the beautiful border down the left, which was painted with white acrylic then embossed with holographic embossing powder. Some flat back pearls were added to the image to give her a necklace and matching earing - a girl must always where her jewels!

The word "Believe" was painted with black acrylic and highlighted with gold, and finally for the trim, Trizzy has threaded some beads onto head pins and attached them to some gold wire that was threaded through the bottom of the frame. Simply beautiful, Trizzy!

And how about this adorable layout from Nat May, a simple and pretty Layout using CH324 Antique Mini Frames and WD204 Angel (script).

Finally, I have created a boyish layout "Little Boy Blue" in a shabby chic style.

I have used some pale blue embossing powder and distress stickles, along with some pearls on my chandelier. For the large alphas, I have used some white ink and pale blue embossing powder, and for the mini alphas, I have inked them brown, and then embossed using a script stamp and the pale blue embossing powder.

I have used the large chandelier, CH278, and picket fence border, BD10, along with large antique alphas uppercase, AZ07, and mini antique alphas lowercase, AZ10.
