Memory Boxes

Firstly I would just like to say a huge 'thank you' to Ange for letting me be a part of this amazing team! There is so much talent amongst all these ladies it is quite daunting for me but at the same time I am soooo excited to be here!!

Ok here goes my first blog post for Scapware, hope you enjoy what I have to share!!

So I have used the 6x6 memory box KT43 - these are great and have endless possibilities. I have also used the CH30 small tree flourish, AZ08 & 07 alphabets and CH168 joined flourish.

I found the box quite easy to assemble with sticky tape and pva, Ange has posted really clear instructions here. Once it was dry and ready to go I painted the entire box with black acrylic along with the tree flourish (CH30) and the Loni joined flourish (CH168). I then added some German Scrap on the inside edge of the box.

I adhered a strip of torn cream/gold paper on the top of the box - randomly added a single layer of UTEE, heated it then highlighted it with the gilding wax. Once I added the joined flourish and the tree flourish (which happened to sit beautifully inside the box) I adhered the image, painted the word 'Cherish' in Crimson Lumiere and added a clear dimensional glaze to it. (Both flourishes were highlighted with gilding wax)

The 'glass' skeleton leaf was made by dipping a leaf into clear UTEE and I used a squashed bottle top with another image and some gold glass beads and finally topped it up with more clear UTEE.

Now some gorgeous artwork from Natalie.....

Natalie also made a beautiful Memory Box - she was very clever and made a Christmas in July theme!!

Nat has used a 6x6 kit KT43, Doves - flourish LN02 and some Poinsettias CS50. She inked, embossed and glossed these elements and I must say that the dove does look amazing and so rich in colour!

Natalie has also used wire and beads to hang the dove in the frame and the poinsettias finish off this piece very nicely with more beads to tie the whole theme together - just gorgeous Natalie...

Linda has also made a memory box to share with everyone.....

Linda has also made a memory box that is just divine!

On this piece Linda has used the KT44 10 x 10 memory box kit, CH167 large joined loni flourish, CH188 bird on a branch, CH191 large branch.

I love the texture of the background and the colours used, she has also included german scrap, some lace and has framed the piece with the bird, branches and some flowers with bling...

Gill has also made a beautiful contribution to our theme for this week -

Gill has used a 6 x 6 frame KT43 and one of the newly released frames.  She has covered the whole box in a pattern paper, then used Tim Holtz crackle paints on the edges. She made a birds nest out of old ribbon and lace for the birdy to sit on. Gill has also used vintage glass on the frame which was painted first and then finished the piece off with some mini roses.

I hope you have been inspired to try these memory boxes - I know I had a lot of fun making mine and have some more underway...

Have a great day
Trizzy
