perspective...

This was meant for a couple of weeks ago, but blogger had a hiccup and didn't post it!

The theme the week was "things to be thankful for" and my topic of the recent bush fires in my area may seem somewhat incongruous at first but let me explain... The event was obviously terrible but also inspiring in that despite the loss of property there was no loss of life. It also brought out the very best in our community, everyone banded together to help each other and this proved to me again how lucky i am to live where i do.

I have made a mini album using photos of some of the houses destroyed. I've called it perspective for two reasons, firstly to capture the scale of the fires and put the extent of it into context.  The second meaning is the way the fires made us focus on what is really important in life.

the cover..

and a couple of the pages...

I have used these Scrapware products:
doily frame 3 - small (not pictured)

I hope the theme inspires you to stop and take a minute to appreciate the things you have to be thankful for in your life...

For the Boys..

Hi, its Gina here to start off a new week with some fabulous inspiration from the Scrapware DT!
I'll kick off with this piece I created, which could be framed or made into a wall hanging for a little boys room. With two daughters, I don't often get a chance to do any scrapping with a male theme, so this was a nice change...

I've used a WT09Live/Laugh/Love piece for the title and a few cute MI12Mini Stars. These have all been inked in blue or green and slightly aged by touching up the edges with Versacolor Pinecone ink. I've also stuck some little gold findings onto the stars to make them more of a feature

Next up is this very sweet layout from Renee!

Renee has used: CH303 Funky Robots Large, JB33 Kapow Journal Bits and CH 263 Think Pink Sheet

Renee says "for the robots I have mainly inked them with a few different shades and used a brown American Crafts slick writer, I also have added some vintage glitter glassing, cuttlebugging and some small watch parts to make them a tad bit vintagy!"

The Think from the think pink sheet (not boyish I know!) is coloured in with American crafts slick writer too. I glimmer misted the corrugated letters and also used your masking technique with them too!

The cog window has been painted with Tim Holtz crackle paint and then inked over with stazon and vintage glitterised

Continuing on with the robot theme, Georgia has this fabulous birthday card to share..

Georgia has used funky robots small ch304 and postage frames ch327. She has coloured the robot black using a marker, embossed the star and hands / feet with red embossing powder (using a versa mark pen) and then embossed the whole thing with clear embossing powder. The frame is embossed with the red embossing powder

..and Kim has this very cool layout to share!

Kim says "Addison my three year old is so into TOY STORY at the moment and loves to zoom around with his imaginary wings. I thought the little space shapes from the CH20 Space set was prefect to use to tell the story. I wanted to make the rocket the star so I first inked it fairly heavily around the edge in black ink then randomly embossed it with red embossing powder. I added star dust stickles around the edge to really make it pop. I also added a bling flourish to represent the fire coming out of the engine. For the other two pieces I again heavily inked the edges in black ink then added the star dust stickles around the edge."

..and last but not least, here's Taryn's bright and fun layout!

Taryn has used: AZ03 Impact Lowercase alphas, CH318 Retro Frames Small, CH01 Scalloped Plaques and
MI07 Mini Crowns

WOW!..thanks so much ladies for making my first blog post for Scrapware so much fun to do..and I hope you're all feeling inspired to scrap the boy in your life too! Don't forget to share your creations in the Scrapware Gallery..we can't wait to see them :)

Some more vintage shares!

So today I was meant to be sharing Taryn's beautiful technique laden layout but I made a boo boo and included it in the Monday post so please see the post below.

Instead I have a gorgeous layout from Georgia to show you. I just love the red accents she used in this layout and the penny farthing (CH241) is just too sweet.
Thanks Georgia for sharing :)

The layout below is one I did a few weeks ago.
Used CH335 Do-Hicky , which I cut in half and covered in smooch ink and finished off with diamond glimmermist. Also used CH63 Fancy Brackets which I inked with versamark chalk ink, Tim Holtz distressing ink and finished off with diamond Glimmermist.

Flourishes!

Hi! Georgia here.  I love flourishes, so this week's product focus is right up my alley! There are so many though, the hardest part was choosing which one to work with. One of the things i love most about flourishes is that you can cut them down to suit your page. I needed something big and bold to match in with my paper and so I finally settled on using a part of the 12" vine CH269...

I have just simply painted it and let it spill over onto my kraft background to make it balance out my page.

Natalie has come up with his stunning page using CH131 shelley

Natalie has used glimmermist on the flourish and then continued this onto her background to come up with a gorgeously soft and romantic page.

Kim has used the new butterfly flourish LW15 on her beautiful page..

Kim has painted the butterflies with smooch inks, then twinkling h2os and then finished with rock candy distress stickles. The flourishes are painted with gold smooch ink and finished with gold glitter glue. Isn't the effect amazing?

Last but not least is this gorgeous page from Lisa..

Lisa has used the vine corner CH297 and flourish set 2 FS02 and coloured the chipboard with chalk.

Now I'm off to work on a couple of projects for Friday's blog post. It is going to be very difficult actually, I have the hugest pile of DELICIOUS new products which are being released at SIA next week that I'm not allowed to touch....

Have a good week!

Off the page TIME!

I have a terrible habit of seeing an off the page project, getting really excited about it... and then leaving it in a box to gather dust lol. i couldn't resist this gorgeous clock though and my second daughter eliza has been asking for something to hang in her room so i thought i'd kill two birds with one stone.

isn't it cute? eliza loves it and i had to ask VERY nicely to borrow it for five minutes to do this post....
i have used the clock, antique lower case letters (AZ 08) http://www.scrapware.com.au/ProductDetailPopup.aspx?iProductId=1310, a large basic flower (CH 97) http://www.scrapware.com.au/ProductDetailPopup.aspx?iProductId=1090 and a circle journal spot.
i stitched the paper and attached the photos etc before i glued it onto the clock. with the chipboard i painted the various pieces and then clear embossed them. because the clock is so big i did the embossing in stages which worked really well. with the flower, after i had embossed it i curled the petals around a pen to give them some extra dimension. then i punched holes in the centre to feed the stems of my paper flowers and string through.
it came together so easily and as i said eliza is chuffed!well, i am off to try and entertain three grumpy kids on the third 40+ day in a row... hhmmmm, maybe i should set them up in front of the tv and try and sneak some scrapping in lol...georgia

Hello!

This is my first blog post and I am so excited (yay!) but also so nervous so be nice lol. the new releases are so yummy i hardly knew where to start but in the end i couldn't go past the 6x6 memory box (KT43). i have a canvas in my entry way and wanted something i could put up in the same spot during the lead up to christmas...

isn't it cute? i've painted the frame white, inked around the edges and then covered the front with crackle accent. inside the frame i have used a mini tree (CH181) and some mini grass (CH195)

and see that yummy yummy font? it is called elegant lowercase (AZ12) and will be available in mid jan... i have just painted and then clear embossed it, super quick and easy!

Georgia.
