Following on with this week's "Back to School" theme I decided to do something for my daughter's school bag .... a set of chipboard tags with her name on so she can easily spot her school bag amongst the crowd.

The Scalloped Tags (TS03) were perfect for this project. They come as a set of 3 tags in 3 different sizes. I started with giving the three tags a base coat of cream paint and then added fabrics, gauze and burlap for different textural effects, giving the tag set a soft shabby chic sort of feel. The largest tag, pictured above, has the Alyssa Flourish CH428 on it, which I have simply painted with a coat of Jo Sonja Moss Green followed by a light application of gesso.

On the middle tag I have used the first initial of Alyssa's surname (Mini Antique Lowercase AZ10), again painted with Moss Green followed by gesso. I have also used the Mini Marilyn Blooms LB32.

The blooms are first painted with cream paint and then I like to shape the petals a little using the rounded end of a paintbrush. Once I have the shape I simply layer two to three sized petals on to each other with glue. For this example I have sprinkled some seed beads into some glue in the centre of the flower to finish off.

The smallest tag simply has Alyssa's name on it, again using the Mini Antique Lowercase alphas. I think Scrapware has the best alphas in the chipboard market! These particular ones are most certainly my personal favourite.

Finish it all off with buttons, threads, german scrap and crocheted lace and voila! Something to make this school bag stand out from all the rest!

Happy Australia Day peoples!
