READY.......

Hello everyone.

This is my first post for the year so I need to say 'Happy New Year' because officially my 2011 doesn't start until February....... January is all about holidays and kids, no order and no routine and definitely no time for resolutions, until Feb.

which brings me today and the back to school theme happening this week at Scrapware. I officially have one more week before fletch and Cordy go back to school but I am really really ready....like NOW.

Hence this first layout......So ready

At the moment I am really loving the Inkssentials 'Enamel accents' the finish gives you a super hard, clean cover on top of the chipboard...the white is great because ten you can layer either glimmermist or glimmerglaze to the surface and the colours produced are beautiful.. please give it a try

I used a 12"piece of Corrigated board as the base. I did some misting and some sewing and lots of layering of papers and embellishments as well.....not all school layouts have to include a school uniform. I wanted to celebrate the fact that they were saying goodbye to the holidays and hello school

the next layout highlights what a grott I have for a son....

this is what I picked up from school in the first week of First grade....and it has not changed in the last three years, perphaps maybe a little worse. I am pleased to announce though he no longer brings home SNAILS in his lunchbox... whew.

and lastly I wanted to share a little album I made from a 12" piece of plain board so that I could keep track of all the books the kids read each year...inside the cover there is a contract that includes a monetary deal......books for cash to hopefully encourage them to read without the arguments I recieved last year.

I am picking my battles!

firstly I cut 2 pieces of 10cm x 15cm of board and then a 2cmx10cm strip to act as the binding of the book.... and then I covered both sides of them in the desired paper.

I laid the spine in the center of a some linen tape (bunnings)

and then layered the covers on either side and wrapped the tape around to give the join a good hinge.

I bought a cheap $2 notepad to slot inside so that Cordy could write the books she has read and hopefully draw a picture

mini album complete... easy peasy

now on to the decorating and personalising.... if it aint pretty she aint gonna use it I say.
(We will work on my english this year...hehehheheeee)

so that is my post for the day.......
happy scrappy over the weekend
love naomi x
